This policy explains what Nottingham Building Services ("NBS", "we") collects when you use this website or contact us, what we do with it, and the choices you have. We keep it short and in plain English on purpose.

What we collect

• Enquiry details. When you use the contact form we collect your name, email address, phone number, postcode and the message you write. If you ring or email us directly, we hold whatever you choose to share.
• Basic usage data. Our hosting provider (Vercel) gives us cookieless, aggregated analytics that store nothing on your device. Google Analytics runs only if you accept cookies in the banner; until then it operates in cookieless mode.

What we use it for

• Answering your enquiry, arranging surveys and preparing quotes.
• Keeping a record of enquiries so we can follow up properly.
• Understanding how the website is used so we can improve it.

We do not sell your information, and we do not send marketing emails. Our lawful basis for handling enquiry data is taking steps you ask us to take before entering a contract, and our legitimate interest in running the business.

Automated spam screening

Form submissions are screened automatically, including by an AI classifier, to keep automated spam and cold sales pitches out of the inbox. The screening is deliberately cautious: anything that could plausibly be a genuine enquiry is treated as one, and flagged messages are still stored for human review rather than deleted, so a real enquiry is never silently lost.

How long we keep it

• Genuine enquiries: personal details are removed after 2 years.
• Messages flagged as spam: personal details are removed after 90 days.
• After removal, an anonymised record (date and count only) is kept so our enquiry statistics stay accurate.

Who we share it with

The services that run this website process data on our behalf: Vercel (hosting), Neon (database), Resend (email delivery), Anthropic (the spam screening described above), Google (analytics, only with your consent) and WAT Websites, who build and maintain the site for us. Each processes data under contract and cannot use it for their own purposes.

Cookies

We only set analytics cookies if you press Accept in the cookie bar, and we re-ask roughly every six months. You can change your mind at any time via the "Cookie settings" link in the footer; rejecting also clears any analytics cookies already set. Strictly necessary items (like the admin login cookie for our own staff) do not require consent.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing info@nottinghamlandscapingservices.com. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
