First the gardens. Now the house.
Aaron Brereton started Nottingham Landscaping Services in March 2016 and built it the slow way: job by job, review by review, until it became one of the best-reviewed trade firms in the city, with four local teams and 101+ five-star Google reviews. If you have had a patio, driveway or garden done in Nottingham in the last few years, there is a decent chance NLS did it, or did one on your street.
Along the way, the same conversation kept happening at the end of garden jobs: "while you're here, do you know anyone who could do the garage? The loft?" The answer was always yes, because Aaron's wider circle of trades, the joiners, plasterers, electricians and roofers he has worked alongside for years, were already building those rooms privately. What was missing was a company name over that work, with the standards and accountability NLS customers expect.
That is NBS. A dedicated conversions firm, run by Aaron, staffed by time-served trades, doing the two jobs the team knows inside out: garage conversions and loft conversions. House extensions will follow when we can do them at the same standard, and not before.
The name is new. The people, the standards and the phone number are not.
Three rules we brought over from NLS
Say no early
If a loft fails the head-height test or a garage slab is past saving, you hear it at the free survey, with the measurements to back it up. Walking away from a bad job is cheaper for everyone than building it.
Paper before tools
Drawings, a building regs application, a fixed written quote and a programme, all before day one. The jobs that go wrong in this trade are the ones priced off a doorstep chat.
Live like a guest
A conversion happens inside your home while you are in it. Dust screens up, tools away each evening, and the same faces on site through the job, not a rotating cast of strangers.

Who will actually be on my job?
The same trades throughout, and Aaron running it. NBS is not a lead-generation front that sells your job on to whoever is free that week. The joiners, plasterers, electricians and groundworkers have worked alongside Nottingham Landscaping Services for years, which is the whole reason this business exists rather than starting from nothing.
NBS is new. What has Aaron built before this?
Nottingham Landscaping Services has been trading since 2016, 10 years, and holds 101+ Google reviews at 4.9 out of 5. That work is landscaping and groundwork rather than conversions: retaining structures, drainage, bases, patios and driveways. The conversions arm grew out of it as the team took on more trades. We are not going to dress that up as decades of loft conversions, because it is not.
Do you use your own team or subcontract it all out?
Our own core team for the structure, the joinery and the finish, with time-served specialists brought in for the parts that legally need them, which mainly means the electrics and the gas. That is normal and it is how the certification works. What we do not do is hand the whole job to a subcontractor and disappear until invoice day.
What happens if something is wrong after you have gone?
You ring Aaron on 07455 331326 and we come back and put it right. Every conversion also ends with a building control completion certificate, which is an independent inspector signing off the structure, insulation and fire separation rather than us marking our own homework.
Do you only work in Nottingham?
Nottingham and the towns around it, which in practice means anywhere an NLS van already goes: West Bridgford, Beeston, Arnold, Hucknall, Carlton, Mapperley, Clifton, Long Eaton, Stapleford, Bulwell, Eastwood and the villages between them. If you are a little outside that it is still worth asking rather than assuming.
